Bardstown City Schools has named two interim leaders for the 2025-26 school year. Dr. Lance Boston has been appointed interim principal of Bardstown Elementary School, and Mrs. Kathy Fenwick will serve as the district’s interim director of special education. Both appointments take effect July 1.
“Dr. Boston and Ms. Fenwick are well-known to Bardstown families and staff,” said Superintendent Ryan Clark. “Their experience and leadership will be important as we continue to build on the strong foundation at BES and within our special education programs.”
Boston currently serves as the district’s Director of Special Programs, School Safety, and Law Enforcement Services. In these roles, he leads efforts in special education, preschool, alternative education, and day treatment. He also oversees the district’s mental health and safety initiatives, working with school counselors, social workers, outside therapists, and first responders to support student wellness.
Boston began his education career as a special education teacher. He holds a Doctor of Education in educational leadership from the University of the Cumberlands, where he also earned certifications for superintendent, director of pupil personnel, director of special education, and school principal. He earned a master’s degree in education from Georgetown College and a bachelor’s degree in administration of justice from the University of Louisville.
Fenwick has served as Bardstown’s special education coordinator since 2015 and brings more than 15 years of experience in the field. She previously worked as a special education teacher before moving into her role as coordinator. In her current role, she facilitates meetings, leads training and support for special education staff, ensures compliance with state and federal laws, and uses data to guide program improvements.
Fenwick holds an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in instructional leadership and school administration from Bellarmine University, a master’s degree in education from Western Kentucky University, and a director of special education certification from the University of the Cumberlands. She is currently completing her Doctor of Education in educational leadership.
