Primary Talent Pool Students Launch Into Learning at the Bluegrass Aerospace Experience

On November 14, Bardstown Primary School primary talent pool students took off on the first of seven planned enrichment field trips. This trip first-graders explored the Bluegrass Aerospace Experience at the Bardstown–Nelson County Airport.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to explore the world of aviation up close. Their day included a guided tour of the airport, where they learned how aircraft take off, land, and are maintained. Students were also treated to exciting demonstrations, including gliders, drones, and even a helicopter departure.-cube

One of the highlights was exploring a carbon cub airplane built by local high school students. This showed our primary students what’s possible when curiosity meets hands-on learning. Students wrapped up their visit by building and testing their own balsa wood airplanes. It was a great opportunity to put basic principles of flight into action.

This field trip is the first of seven planned enrichment experiences. These trips are designed to inspire creativity, spark new interests, and broaden understanding of the world around them.

We extend a special thank you to Sgt. Pfost and Mr. Markle for their engaging presentations, as well as the Bardstown-Nelson County Airport for hosting and providing a memorable learning opportunity.

Our first graders left with wide eyes, new knowledge, and a deeper love of discovery—proof that learning truly has no limits.
