BCS Families,
I am happy to report that the number of COVID-19 incidents in our schools have been very low since our return from fall break. With this decrease in COVID-19 cases in our school and community we’re able to make some modifications to our Healthy at School plan. Starting tomorrow, October 27th, masks will be optional but are recommended for unvaccinated individuals. It is important for families to know that wearing a mask does lower a student’s chance of being quarantined. Masks will continue to be required on the school buses due to federal regulations.
We are committed to keeping students in-person at school, so moving forward we will begin offering a Test-to-Stay program. Test-to-Stay is a voluntary program where students who would have been quarantined due to close contact can be tested daily over a period of time to stay in school for in-person instruction. More information on our Test-to-Stay program will be available later this week.
Just a reminder, that our Healthy Kids Clinic can administer COVID-19 vaccines for students age 12 and over. When vaccines are approved for children ages 5-11 we anticipate our onsite clinic will also be able to offer vaccinations for this age group.
We will continue to monitor our schools and community health data and update our families when a change is needed. As always, thank you for your help in keeping our school community healthy.
