Enrollment Information
Thank you for your interest in Bardstown City Schools. Students in grades Preschool-12 living outside the boundaries of the Bardstown City Schools district may apply for their child(ren) to attend BCS.
Before you apply here’s a few things you should know:
- Acceptance is based on capacity of a program, class, grade level, and school building. All P-12 new students residing out of the BCS boundaries are required to complete our Out-Of-District Application even if a family already has one child attending BCS.
- Bus transportation is not provided to out-of-district students.
- For early consideration for our enrollment into our preschool program at Bardstown Early Childhood Education Center families must apply between Jan. 2 – mid March. Applications submitted AFTER mid March will not know their application status until late spring.
Out-of-District Enrollment for the upcoming 2024-25 school year
Families who live outside the boundaries of Bardstown City Schools who wish to apply for enrollment in Bardstown City Schools for the 2024-25 school year must complete our 24-25 Out-of-District Enrollment Application
Families who apply will receive notification on the status of their application in late April. At that time, if your application has been approved you will receive a link to complete BCS’s online enrollment.
For more information or questions about the process please contact our Director of Pupil Personnel, Chris Pickett, at 502-331-8822 or chris.pickett@bardstown.kyschools.us.
We’re excited that your child will be joining us and we look forward to meeting you!
All student enrollment will be completed online. Before you begin the enrollment process, please review the information below. Once we receive your form, a member of our enrollment team will guide you through the next steps and provide you with any additional paperwork necessary to enroll your child(ren) at Bardstown City Schools.
Enrollment ages:
Kentucky law requires youths between 6 and 18 years old to attend school, and the birthday cutoff to enroll in kindergarten is age 5 on or before Aug. 1. Families may enroll for preschool if their child turns 3 or 4 years old on or before Aug. 1.
Registration for the 2024-2025 school year will begin March 18, 2024.
You’ll also need to upload the following documents:
- Birth Certificate
- Proof of Residency (utility bill or lease)
- Immunization Certificate
- Preschool Physical Exam (preschool or kindergarten enrollment)
- Eye Examination (preschool or kindergarten enrollment)

We understand you may not have digital files of these documents. You may complete online enrollment without these documents, however, a member of our enrollment team will be in touch to collect these necessary documents. Your enrollment application will be placed on hold until a copy of these documents are physically received at our school or district offices.
Families who reside outside the Bardstown City Schools boundaries should not enroll online. Families who reside outside of the Bardstown City Schools must fill out our Out-Of-District Request for Enrollment Application. More details can be found in our “Out of District Families” tab.
In preparation for the 2023-2024 school year, current families will need to complete the online Annual Update for their current BCS students. This important, online process will allow parents to update student information including medical conditions, communication preferences, household address, and electronically sign beginning of year paperwork like The Healthy Kids Clinic registration form.
If your family needs to enroll a child in preschool or kindergarten you must enroll your new student during the Annual Update.
A current student is defined as any student who was actively enrolled at any BCS school. You are a current student even if you are attending a new BCS school due to promotion (i.e. moving from 4-year-old preschool to kindergarten at Bardstown Primary or moving from 8th grade to 9th grade at Bardstown High School).
The Annual Update for the 2024-2025 school year will begin March 18, 2024.
To complete your Annual Update you will need access to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal Account.
Watch this video guide for parents or guardians to learn how to use the tool.
You’ll need the following to complete your annual update:
- Access to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal Account
- Parent information including email address, work and cell phone numbers
- Student information such as health and medication information including insurance
- Emergency Contacts information including full legal name, date of birth and phone numbers
What if I don’t have a Parent Portal Account?
For help setting up a Parent Portal Account please contact our district registrar, Grace Cox, at grace.cox@bardstown.kyschools.us or 502-331-8800.
What if I don’t have computer or internet access?
Families that do not have internet access, a computer or a current email address can use a kiosk station at their child’s school to register during normal business hours.
