Fifth Street Campus in the Demo Phase: Big Changes Ahead

Exciting progress is underway on our Fifth Street campus! Over the past few weeks, demolition has begun in Areas A and C, marking the visible start of a major transformation. Here’s a closer look at what’s happening:

Area A – Arts Hub in the Making
The catwalk connecting the A Wing (formerly the junior high wing) has been removed, and classrooms in the A Wing have been completely gutted. This is the first step in turning this area into a dedicated arts hub, including:

  • Chorus, band, and strings classrooms with storage and three practice rooms
  • A new addition that will house a visual arts classroom
  • An outdoor performance space between the A Wing and basement classrooms, featuring turf and a stage for performances and gatherings

Area C – Science Classrooms & Labs
The media center and basement classrooms have been demolished to make way for modern science classrooms and labs, providing students with hands-on learning environments designed for the future.

Geothermal System Connection
Work continues to connect the high school to the newly installed geothermal system. This energy-efficient system will provide lifelong operational savings for our district, supporting sustainability and cost-effective operations.

A Note for Basketball Season
As construction continues, the gym lobby is divided with a temporary wall to keep the construction separate from gym activities. We appreciate your patience during this busy athletic season. The improvements will be well worth it!
