Dr. King Selected As Teacher Lead for UK-JHF Holocaust Initiative

It is with great pleasure that we announce Dr. Chris King’s selection as a teacher leader for the University of Kentucky(UK)-Jewish Heritage Fund (JHF) Holocaust Initiative for 2023-2024. This initiative provides the necessary support and resources for teachers to meet the requirements of the 2018 Ann Klein and Fred Gross Holocaust Education Act.

Out of many qualified applicants, Dr. King was selected as one of the 21 teachers to lead this initiative. As the lead teacher for the Lincoln Trail region, Dr. King will conduct workshops for educators from nine counties. The workshops aim to help teachers develop effective lesson plans and unit plans, making the content of Holocaust education accessible and understandable for students. The scheduled dates for these workshops are in the spring and summer of 2024.

King’s selection as a lead teacher is a momentous occasion for the Lincoln Trail region. He is the first educator from this area to receive this honor. Dr. King is excited about the opportunity to make a positive impact on his students and colleagues. He believes that his work with the UK-JHF Holocaust Initiative will have spinoff value into other difficult topics beyond the Holocaust.

We congratulate Dr. King on his achievement and wish him the best of luck in his endeavors as a teacher leader for the UK-JHF Holocaust Initiative.
